Dr. Christine Beason

Candidate for Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees, Place 4

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees. My experiences and background offer a unique perspective that will allow me to be a bridge between the school and community, and contribute to student and teacher success. I have first hand experience as a classroom teacher and I understand college and corporate expectations for high school graduates. My husband is a teacher in MISD, and we have two children in the district.

I began my career as a middle school band director outside of Atlanta, GA. Later I became a college professor of education in Texas, and currently work as a trainer in a corporate environment. I know the challenges faced in the classroom on a daily basis and I believe I can offer a voice of support for the teachers. As a corporate trainer, I understand the need for high school graduates to possess 21st Century skills included in college, career, and military readiness, but I also know these skills are not necessarily measured in standardized testing. I would like to see our community focus less on test scores, and more on real learning and success.

I pride myself on keeping an open mind and considering all aspects of an issue before making a decision. I understand how to research legitimate sources and I will base my decisions on factual evidence. I believe in Servant Leadership, and I will never ask anyone to do something I am not willing to do.

I am excited to begin this journey, and look forward to serving Mansfield ISD.
